A Very Glamorous Thursday

Favorite Spaces, Interior Design

This room just infatuates me. The amount of details and layering is pure genius. Your eye darts from the chaise in the middle of the room, to the framed coral on the far wall, to the sputnik-style fixture on the right, to the blown glass eggs on the foremost table. Perfection, I tell you!

Notice how almost all the furniture features stark, modern, clean lines? Even the upholstered chairs on the right have modern chic silver legs. Pair this with the soft, billowing curtains, the organic coral fans, and the natural stone object on the table - voila, automatic chic.

I'd love to share the designer with you, but the name has been lost somewhere in the black hole that is my computer. My apologies.

Sweet Summertime

Can you believe we're halfway through August already?? Summer flew by. I know that's one of those things you say every year, but.. seriously! The thought of fall weather and sweaters and boots makes me cringe right now. Ask me again in a week and I may have changed my mind, but right now I'm grasping onto sweet summertime as tightly as I can.

Activities include, but are not limited to:

Wearing sundress
Catching up on my reading list by the pool
Spending time at the park
Eating my favorite popsicles
Fresh fruit and berries
Sunshine.. lots and lots of sunshine
Music and beer festivals
Baseball games

What do you think? Am I crazy for preferring a 90 degree day over a balmy 75 degrees? Are you holding onto the last few weeks of summertime, or are you ready to start pulling fall clothes out of the closet?

Light & Bright

Loving these light and airy interiors...

My bedroom at my old Auburn apartment was decorated in all light colors.. white walls, white bedspread, white furniture - and I loved it! I picked that bedroom specifically because it got the most sunlight. This made it impossible to sleep in late with the sun shining in your eyes every morning - but I didn't mind. Except on mornings when I had been out late the night before.. then I cursed my bedroom decision. But that's a whole other topic. Haha.

My new apartment is more or less the complete opposite - dark furniture in the living room and bright, bold colors in my bedroom. It's meh. I miss my Auburn room, it was like my little oasis in the middle of the craziness of college.

One thing I've discovered moving around so much is that design is always, always evolving as you grow and your personal tastes change. You have to try new things to learn what you do and do not like.. and if you don't like something, try again! That's the beauty of design - it never has to be permanent. Changing the feel of a space is as easy as painting a wall, switching out accessories, or painting some furniture.

I'd love to hear your design stories. What was your college apartment like? Please share!
